I am a student nurse currently studying a Bachelor in Nursing at Western Sydney University. As part of my course requirements, I have successfully completed a two week clinical placement at Bulli District Hospital. Here, I learnt how to document effectively, assist with the care of patients who were experiencing dementia, learn about different medications and understand about the running of a hospital ward.

 

I am confident in what I do and see myself as a friendly and approachable person. I always strive to achieve my best and I contribute to my tutorials at university. Being a people person, my communication skills are excellent. I am patient and reliable, and I was able to use these skills while on clinical placement. I am a problem solver and I find I work well under pressure.

 

My long term objective is to work in Special Care Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This is close to my heart for personal reasons. Once I complete my degree and the new graduate program, I would love to develop my career alongside professionals in a children’s hospital. Following the Nursing and Midwifery Guidelines, I will ensure that I practice in a safe and confident manner (NMBA, 2008) as well as practice provision and co-ordination of care (NMBA, 2006).
